Handloaded Ammunition

The NRA published an updated version of it’s handloading code of practice in May 2024. This was first notified to us last year at the time we brought in the Blackpowder changes but it’s implementation on NRA ranges was initially suspended until June 2024 – however it is now active. The COP is accessible in the Members section of the website at https://www.peverilrifleclub.im/hand-loading-nra-code-of-practice/ or from the NRA website in the publications section.

Peveril is both an NRA Affiliated club and operates under insurance provided by the NRA and as such our members are required to adhere to the code of practice. If you handload ammunition please familiarise yourself with it ASAP.

The short document is basically a summary of best practice reloading techniques and safety practices and is intended to reduce the incidence of on range accidents caused by badly loaded ammunition and followed a noted increase in similar incidents at Bisley – so it shouldn’t be too onerous for you and I’d expect any experienced reloaders would already be following similar processes.

A copy of the COP is also available at the range. If you haven’t already done so you will be required to sign and submit the declaration page before shooting any handloaded ammunition. Copies of the declaration page are also available at the range.
