Due to Highways division roadworks at Keppel Gate and below Kate’s the mountain road will be closed for 4-5 weeks from 15th September between Brandywell and the Creg. Daytime access to the range will be maintained for our members from Brandywell end only via a manned Highways checkpoint – you must show your membership card to pass. If unmanned you MUST ensure the gate is closed behind you and on weekdays you must also stop and obtain permission to progress from the Highways control room if unmanned.
YOU MUST NOT ENTER OR EXIT VIA THE CREG UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.
If travelling from Douglas / the South you’ll need to go via West Baldwin Rd and Brandywell Rd.
Detailed conditions from Highways:
- There will be no access from Creg Ny Baa
- Access will only be from Brandywell. This will be available at all times (apart from midday to 5pm on Sunday 21 September when the Festival of Motoring is running over the mountain – when the whole Mountain will be closed)
- There will be barriers at Brandywell. Depending on what operations are underway at any particular time this may, or may not be staffed. If it is unstaffed, your members must close the gate behind them. It should not be left open under any circumstance *
- If the barrier is not staffed when entering or leaving Brandywell (between 07.30 and 17.30) Monday to Friday your members must contact Ellerslie Control on 850000
- Drivers must not exceed 40mph, and be prepared to stop within the closed area. They should slow to 20mph on blind corners. While work will be focussed at Kates Cottage, other works may be taking place elsewhere on the mountain.
- There will be a second set of barriers just south of the entrance to the range. Your members must not travel past this fence line under any circumstance
- Please ensure that your members carry proof of membership
I will inform the police of these access arrangements. Your membership cards will be proof that your members have permission to drive between Brandywell and the range.
*If this condition is not complied with access arrangements will be reconsidered and may have to be reduced or withdrawn
